Depending on where you live and what device you are using 3G Mobile Broadband can offer download speeds of between 1 and 20Megabits per second, but on a 4G network those download speeds could be around 5 times better.

Telstra’s new 4G network offers download speeds ranging from 2 to 40megabits per second which equates to around 5megabytes per second which can, under the right conditions, be better than some wired internet services.

The first 4G compatible mobile handset is the HTC Velocity, which launched last week however 4G mobile broadband can also be accessed through the BigPond USB 4G device.

At the moment Telstra’s 4G network is limited to capital cities and larger regional centres. Get more coverage information on the Telstra website.
