The humble in-car radio receiver is about to get a major overhaul and get connected.

Coming next month the Parrot Asteroid will be the first car receiver that runs on the Android operating system. Combine mobile internet connectivity via a 3G network with GPS navigation, music from your digital music device, access to download applications and your favourite radio station and you have one very smart car radio.

Hand free functionality is also a big part of the Asteroid with a dedicated button to activate voice recognition to help you search for music on the device, plus bluetooth connectivity for pairing with your mobile phone.

The Parrot Asteroid goes on sale next month for just under 400 dollars.
