Earlier this morning Apple finally lifted the lid on the new iPad, however they’re not calling it the “iPad3”.

Networking: 4G LTE, up to 73Mbps (Not sure if this will support Telstra’s 4G).

Camera: 5 Megapixel iSight rear-facing camera, autofocus and white balance, face detection, HD video recording at 1080p with stabilization and noise reduction.
Battery Life: 10 hours, 9 hours on 4G.
Operating System: iOS 5.1 (released today)
The “New iPad” offers a higher resolution 2,048 by 1,536 ‘Retina Display’, an updated processor plus a 4G mobile network connection (we’ll have to confirm with Telstra for its compatibiltity with their 4G network.)
In terms of price the new iPad starts at $539 for the 16GB model.
Additionally a reduced price for the iPad2 was also announced with the 16GB model now just $429
