Do you live in fear of your smartphone battery not going the distance? Well new research from Huawei suggests you’re definitely not alone.
The Survey found that finding that 74% of us run out of battery at least once a day, despite 4 in 5 admitting that doing so makes feel stressed, helplessness, angry, anxious and/ or lonely.
It seems that low battery also impacts how people behave…with one in ten lying about having a phone charger so they wouldn’t have to give it up…and almost 20 percent of those aged 18-24 more likely to leave an event early if their battery was on the way out.
This research has also led to the coining of the term FOBO (Fear of Battery Obliteration) – a negative cognitive reaction to 0% battery.
Huawei’s 2019 Fear of Battery Obliteration (FOBO) Survey, polled over 2,000 Australians, finding that 74% of Australians run out of battery at least once a day, despite 4 in 5 admitting that doing so makes feel stressed, helplessness, angry, anxious and/ or lonely.
The survey also revealed…
- 83% of Aussies experience negative emotional symptoms when their phone runs out of battery, with one in ten suffering physical symptoms including sweaty palms, increased heart rate and even crying
- One in three Australians say they would rather give up sex than their phone.
So how do you avoid FOBO?
Well if you’re attached to your current phone and its battery doesn’t always go the distance, get yourself a 10000mAh power bank. Otherwise seek out a better phone.
Huawei says its new Mate20 Pro is the best on the market when it comes to battery life, lasting 48hours.
