Phone usage is up 77% over the past decade yet 1 in 4 of us take a Digital Detox often.
Those are just some of the findings from HMD Global’s Mobile Trend Report, revealing our habits, attitudes and concerns around mobile phone use.
The study also revealed that Australians spend 16.45 hours per week on average looking at their screen – which is the equivalent of watching the first two seasons of Game of Thrones back-to-back.
To break this down further the HMD Global study says;

Aussies spend an average of:

163 minutes on average touching their phone each day

141 minutes looking at their screen each day

135 minutes on your phone (including games, calls, exercises, texts)

96 minutes browsing social media

144 minutes using their smartphone in any way

88.2% of Aussies believe their phone usage has increased by some % in the past decade

On average Aussies have increased their phone usage by 77% in the past decade

27.5% (1 in 4) of Aussies often take a digital detox

On average, Aussies are spending 110 more minutes on their phone than holding their child’s hand
