When was the last time you used a payphone?
Even if you don’t need to make a call, your local payphone just became more useful.
Telstra recently announced that it’s switching on Free Wifi at payphone locations across Australia, initially flicking the switch at around 3000 payphones last month.
Over the coming year Telstra has also set a goal to upgrade the entire payphone network…so an additional 12 thousand payphones to provide free Wifi.
It’s also worth noting that, even though they are still referred to as Pay Phones, last year Telstra removed the cost of calls to standard fixed line numbers and calls to standard Australian mobiles from all Payphones across Australia.
