Sending mobile text messages while driving isn’t just a dangerous practice, it’s illegal in all states and territories, yet according to Telstra research 45 percent of Australians admit to having done it.
The ‘Drive Safe, Phone Safe’ study also revealed that the texting while driving trend is worsening with a 12 percent increase compared to this time last year.
As a result Telstra has launched a national driver safety eduction program called M8 IT CAN W8 to discourage drivers from texing while behind the wheel.
The message is simple. Texting while driving is dangerous. If you want to read or write a message, pull over safely first.
