Just about everything we do in our lives now has some kinds of connection to the Internet, but many Australian businesses are being left behind. PayPal’s 2013 digital literacy report found many businesses lack even the basic knowledge to operate online.
Some of the key findings from the report include:
• 3 in 5 small to medium businesses claim low levels of digital literacy are preventing them from running their business more efficiently.
• Only half (51%) have tried to improve their digital literacy.
• 4 in 5 (79%) claim there should be more help and guidance to help them embrace the digital economy.
• 30 per cent want to improve their knowledge of developing a web site presence, a quarter want to learn how to utilise cloud-based solutions and 1 in 5 (19%) want to learn more about accepting payments through their website.
