Australia is falling behind the rest of the world when it comes to broadband internet speeds ranking at 48th place globally.
So you may be wondering who has the fastest? Well in the global broadband connection speed rankings for the end of 2015 published by Akamai technologies, South Korea came in at number 1 with an average speed of 26.7 Megabits per second followed by Japan at 17.4 and Hong Kong at 16.8. In comparison Australia’s average speed was just 8.2.
The good news is that speeds here have actually increased by 11 per cent year on year and for the moment are sufficient for the average user.
Oh and unlike in South Korea, the Internet we get here is not heavily restricted by Government. Here’s to a future that hopefully includes faster Internet speeds.
