How do you spot a fake scam email?
Cybercriminals still use email to launch their attacks on individuals and businesses by posing as someone you know or a company you are familiar with…and while at first glance these messages may look convincing…the devil is in the detail.
Some of the warning signs include…
- The senders email address doesn’t match one you’re familiar with
- The subject heading has been left blank
- Poor grammar and/or spelling
- Urgent requests for personal information
- And requests to visit a website using a link with an unusual looking address.
It’s worth visiting the Australian Government’s ScamWatch.gov.au website to stay across the latest scams.
