Delta Drone youtube2If you’ve been following Tech Daily for any amount of time then you’ll know that I will jump at the opportunity to review just about anything that flies, so yes I’ve had more than my fair share of Drones pass though the office.

Last week Kaiser Baas sent over their new Delta Drone.   At $599 it’s quite a step up from the Alpha Drone I looked at last year, but with the higher price tag comes some great features that made flying this drone easy and fun.

Much like the more serious (and higher priced) cones, the Delta Done doesn’t come with a camera, instead letting you mount your own Go-Pro or Kaiser Baas Action camera.   For this test I used the X150 Action camera from Kaiser Baas.   It just took a few test flights to find the best angle to set the camera at however it really does depend what sort of shots you’re hoping to take during flight.

The feature I really enjoyed with the Delta Drone was it’s ability to not accidentally wander away out of reach of the transmitter.   Using built-in GPS along with a Geo-fencing feature the drone will stay within 300 meters (pre-programmed) with a maximum range of 400meters.   In the event the drone loses the signal from the transmitter it will return to the take off location…the same goes if you press the ‘return to home’ button.

Delta Drone 3In terms of flying the drone I was quite comfortably with the fully manual controls, however for those not used to flying drones there is also the option to use more simple controls so you don’t need to worry about which way the drone is facing, plus there’s also a great ‘hover mode’ (which was great for me as I could then pick up my DSLR camera a take a few photos of the drone in the air).

Enough words about the Delta Drone.  Watch the videos below for my first two flights as filmed on board the Delta Drone with the X150 Action Camera.
