Every time you post a picture or status update to Facebook, make a tweet, or check-in to a location on your smartphone, you could be sharing your exact location.  Are you ok with that?

Location services play a large role with any smartphone, for example for navigating with a maps app and knowing exactly where in the world you are.

The problem however is when it comes to social media, you are not only letting people know where you are….but also where you aren’t.   So depending on your privacy settings, an overseas holiday snap or tweet could be an open invitation for criminals to drop by your empty house.

Location sharing can be very useful, as long as you’re aware of exactly how and when your whereabouts is being broadcast.
