Australians looking to switch mobile providers finally have a clear picture of what they are actually paying for. New industry rules enforced by the communications regulator mean all telco coverage maps must be judged on the exact same standard.
Instead of displaying faint fringe signals that would usually require an external antenna, the updated maps now only show where a standard smartphone will reliably make calls, send texts, and use data. Consumers can simply enter their home or work address and instantly see if a network offers good, moderate, or basic coverage.
Vodafone’s updated coverage maps show that Population coverage increases from 98.5% to 99% and that it’s coverage area increases from about 1.1 million sq km to more than 1.2 million sq km.
If you are comparing mobile plans, check these newly updated maps to ensure you aren’t paying a premium for dead zones.
