Nokia is getting ready to put a Mobile phone tower on the Moon.
Ok so the first question really is Why?
Well Nokia Bell Labs plans to deploy a cellular network on the Moon to showcase how the technology can revolutionise communication for future space missions.
Plus with the Moon’s surface being such an inhospitable environment with no atmosphere, no natural protection from cosmic radiation, and temperatures that can fluctuate by as much as 300° C between lunar day and night…. If Nokia can build a network that can function on the Moon, it will help inform creating networks to function in the most extreme environments on Earth.
