Setting up a WiFi network is the easiest way to access your Internet connection around the home or office, but when doing so it’s important to make sure it’s secure and closed to unwanted guests.
According to a 2013 survey by The Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy;
· Two-thirds (67%) of Australian internet users admit they don’t change their passwords regularly
· 43% believe someone else knows at least one of their passwords
· Three in five internet users aged over 55 use Wi-Fi at home, with half (49%) still using the default password, no password or not being aware if they have one
The result of this could be having your neighbours leech off your Internet access at your cost, or a malicious user using it to try and steal personal information.
