Just about every popular piece of mobile electronics these days relies on Lithium-ion batteries. It’s changed the way we go about our lives with devices that can run all day, connected and keeping us working or entertained. The downside to this technology includes cost, heat issues and their makeup of toxic elements.
Scientist are however working on an alternative in the form of a water based organic battery. This technology won’t result in toxic landfill plus batteries based on the organic compound would actually last 5 times longer, be cheaper and be scaleable to hold massive amounts of power to store electricity from solar and wind farms.
Until these batteries hit the market, think twice about how you dispose of your current batteries. If you’d like to dig deeper into this topic…which gets much more technical. Read HERE.
