{"id":1080,"date":"2011-07-06T16:50:21","date_gmt":"2011-07-06T06:50:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.techdaily.com.au\/b2\/?p=1080"},"modified":"2011-07-06T16:50:21","modified_gmt":"2011-07-06T06:50:21","slug":"avg-tax-time-warnings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/techdaily.com.au\/b2\/avg-tax-time-warnings\/","title":{"rendered":"AVG Tax Time Warnings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With nearly 20 percent of tax payers now using the ATO\u2019s e-tax eletronic tax return service, tax time has become a target for cyber criminals looking to steal personal information which may give them access to bank accounts or other financial institutions.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.avg.com.au\" target=\"_blank\">AVG Australia<\/a> warns that in the upcoming monthsy we can expect scams in the form of fraudulent emails, texts and phone calls purporting to be from tax officials.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s important to remember that while the Australian Tax Office does use both email and SMS for service alerts, it will never request confidential information using either.<\/p>\n<p>If you receive a suspect email from someone claiming to be from the ATO, do not click on any links within the message.
