According to a new report from PayPal<\/a> 18 percent of cross-border shoppers from America will spend 2.3 billion dollars on Australian goods this year ,2.3 billion dollars of sales will come from china and demand is expected to triple over five years.<\/p>\n

The report reveals the top reasons for shopping online from overseas merchants are: \u201cbuying online to save money\u201d (80%) and \u201cmore variety that cannot be found locally\u201d (79%). Cross-border shoppers are not just looking for an online discount, but also searching overseas for high-quality, authentic items.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Safety and trust are key drivers with 9 out of 10 claiming buyer protection is critical.<\/p>\n

So who are Australian businesses selling to?<\/p>\n

The top five fastest-growing PayPal Australia export markets in 2012 include (year on year growth):<\/strong>
\n Thailand \u2013 105%<\/strong>
\n Russia \u2013 67%<\/strong>
\n Israel \u2013 55 %<\/strong>
\n China \u2013 44%<\/strong>
\n Hong Kong – 41%<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is good news if you\u2019re a business looking to expand new new markets with PayPal suggesting that that the key to accessing these cross-border shoppers is to use a trustworthy online payment system.
