\"Help<\/a>When is a computer error message not a computer error? \u00a0When it\u2019s a scam. \u00a0 Recently\u00a0\u00a0I received a message from Natalie who\u2019s had an error message ( specifically error code RNN8792 )popup up on her Mac that instructed her to call a 1800 number to have an urgent computer problem fixed.<\/p>\n

She called the number, handed over credit card details to someone who then accessed the Mac remotely and supposedly \u2018fixed\u2019 the computer. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>

\n<\/span>But the real problem here is that there was no problem to begin with as the original error message is actually part of a virus. \u00a0\u00a0Good internet security software will keep this sort of activity of your computer.<\/span><\/p>\n
