Nintendo\u2019s Switch 2 games console is set for release on June 5, but last week I was lucky enough to spend a few hours testing it out.<\/p>\n

\"\"Whether you own the original Switch or newer Switch OLED console, moving up to the Switch 2 will be a significant upgrade.<\/p>\n

The screen size has been upgraded to a much more impressive 7.9 inches with a vivid LCD HD display, supporting up to 120fps for smooth gameplay.\u00a0 \u00a0I hear that there’s been a bit of fan rumble over the display not being OLED, but I have to say I was VERY surprised at just now good the screen looks.\u00a0 \u00a0But of course if you did want to play your games on an OLED screen, you could simply hook up an OLED TV to your Switch 2 and enjoy 4K resolution.
\nNotably at the Switch 2 preview event, Samsung provided their Glare Free OLED TV (55″ OLED S95F 4K Vision AI Smart TV<\/a>) so naturally all the games really popped on those screens.<\/p>\n

Back the the console and some other interesting new features include the built-in microphone for game chat, or you can take it to the next level with video chat, using the optional camera accessory (which is also used in some games).<\/p>\n

\"\"It was also fun to try out the new way to use the Joy-Cons.\u00a0 They can now be used just like a PC mouse in some games, held down and moved around a flat surface or even your lap.\u00a0 \u00a0I actually found it felt more natural playing the new Metroid game this way – easier to aim and shoot!<\/p>\n

…and speaking of games, it\u2019s good to see the Switch 2 will have a greater storage capacity at 256gb\u00a0 (8 times the storage of the current Switch) plus you can still ad more with a 256GB MicroSD express card (around $79).<\/p>\n

What to play?
\nThe games you already love.\u00a0 Mario Kart<\/strong> (World) remains the hero of the Switch 2 (In my opinion anyway), Donkey Kong Bananza<\/strong> is fun if you just wanna smash stuff…and I’m just going to leave it there because you already know what you want to play.<\/p>\n
