{"id":9429,"date":"2026-02-25T21:09:43","date_gmt":"2026-02-25T10:09:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.techdaily.com.au\/b2\/?p=9429"},"modified":"2026-02-25T21:09:43","modified_gmt":"2026-02-25T10:09:43","slug":"the-portable-screen-from-lg-thats-really-useful","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/techdaily.com.au\/b2\/the-portable-screen-from-lg-thats-really-useful\/","title":{"rendered":"The Portable Screen from LG that&#8217;s really useful"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-path-to-node=\"1\">When LG contacted me about reviewing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lg.com\/au\/lifestyle-screens\/stanbyme\/27lx6tdga\/\">StanbyME 2<\/a> portable touch screen my first thought was &#8220;where am I going to put it&#8221;?\u00a0 \u00a0The answer is &#8220;anywhere you want it to be&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s basically 27-inch TV on a rollable stand that can plug into wall power or run off a batter for a few hours so I was genuinely excited to see how this kind of flexibility could actually change the way screens can be used at home.<\/p>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"2\"><b data-path-to-node=\"2\" data-index-in-node=\"0\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-9431\" src=\"https:\/\/www.techdaily.com.au\/b2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/thum-1600x1062-2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"180\" height=\"346\" \/>More Than Just a Screen on Wheels<\/b><\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"3\">I have to say that I didn&#8217;t get hands on with the\u00a0 original StanbyME defice, but it this new release appears to be quite an upgrade with a <b data-path-to-node=\"3\" data-index-in-node=\"93\">QHD panel<\/b> offering great clarity, especially when you\u2019re using it up close.<br \/>\nBut the real game-changer is the new viewing modes. Unlike its predecessor, which was fixed to the stand, you can now detach the screen entirely.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4\">Whether you want it in tabletop mode to play interactive touchscreen games or hanging on a wall-mounted hook, it feels like a truly &#8220;go-anywhere&#8221; device.<\/p>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"5\"><b data-path-to-node=\"5\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">What did I do with the StanbyME 2<\/b><\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6\">Here&#8217;s some of things I found it useful for.<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"7\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"7,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Dining Room TV:<\/b> Our dining room ajoins the kitchen and there&#8217;s never been a really good spot to permanently put a TV.\u00a0 With the stand on wheels we don&#8217;t have to find a surface to put a TV on.<br \/>\nYou can access many of the popular streaming subscription services like Netflix, Apple TV, Binge etc but also the free to air streaming apps like Nine Now and 7+.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"7,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Home Office:<\/b> A very handly second monitor either on it&#8217;s wheel stand or table stand.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7,2,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"7,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">BBQ &amp; TV:<\/b> Wheel the StanbyME 2 out onto the front deck and I can watch the news while the snags and steaks cook.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What I didn&#8217;t do with the TV&#8230;yet<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Hanging:<\/strong> I didn&#8217;t want to put a hole in the wall this week, but you can hang the screen like artwork.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"8\"><b data-path-to-node=\"8\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Performance and Battery<\/b><\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"9\">The picture quality is vibrant and punchy, and while it won\u2019t replace a high-end OLED for a dedicated movie night, it\u2019s more than capable for daily streaming. The built-in battery lasts about four hours, which I found to be pretty accurate in &#8220;Eco&#8221; mode.\u00a0 It&#8217;s more than enough to get through a movie or a few of your favourite series episodes.\u00a0 \u00a0The built in speakers are generally ok.\u00a0 For me if I really wanted to focus on the sound from the screen I would pair it with bluetooth speakers or headphones.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-9432\" src=\"https:\/\/www.techdaily.com.au\/b2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/thum-1600x1062-1-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"311\" height=\"249\" srcset=\"https:\/\/techdaily.com.au\/b2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/thum-1600x1062-1-1.jpeg 416w, https:\/\/techdaily.com.au\/b2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/thum-1600x1062-1-1-300x240.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/techdaily.com.au\/b2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/thum-1600x1062-1-1-150x120.jpeg 150w, https:\/\/techdaily.com.au\/b2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/thum-1600x1062-1-1-69x55.jpeg 69w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 311px) 100vw, 311px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"10\"><b data-path-to-node=\"10\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Price<\/b><\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"11\">If you were jus wanting a TV you&#8217;d get more bang for you buck, but with the LG StandbyME 2, you&#8217;re really buying into the portability and convenience of a screen that has multiple functions.<br \/>\nWith a RRP of around <b data-path-to-node=\"11\" data-index-in-node=\"48\">$2,199<\/b>, it\u2019s a premium investment, but if you&#8217;re keen shop around as I&#8217;ve seen it a few hundred dollars cheaper.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"12\">If you\u2019ve been waiting for a screen that adapts to your lifestyle rather than making you adapt to it, this is definitely the one to watch.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When LG contacted me about reviewing the StanbyME 2 portable touch screen my first thought was &#8220;where am I going to put it&#8221;?\u00a0 \u00a0The answer is &#8220;anywhere you want it to be&#8221;.
