We’ve all been there: your phone buzzes for the tenth time in an hour, only for you to check the camera and realise it’s just a magpie landing on the fence or a tree branch waving in the wind.
This “notification fatigue” is exactly what Swann is aiming to kill off thanks to AI tech.

Smart Alerts That Actually Matter

Late last year, Swann launched a new feature in the Swann Security App called “Notify Me When.” Instead of just telling you there is “motion,” you can now set specific, custom scenarios.

Want to know the second a delivery driver drops a parcel? You can set a prompt for that. Need an alert if the dog gets into the backyard or if a child wanders too close to the pool? You can do that too. It moves home security away from generic sensors and into actual, intelligent observation.

The Tech Behind the Scenes

This isn’t just a basic software tweak. Developed right here in Melbourne, the feature is built on Amazon Bedrock and uses Amazon Nova (AWS’s suite of AI foundation models).

When your camera catches movement, the AI analyses the scene, converts that visual info into a text description, and checks if it matches your specific request. If it does, you get a Dynamic Notification that includes a thumbnail and a text summary, so you don’t even have to open the app to know what’s happening.

By the Numbers

The early results of this tech are pretty impressive:

  • 65% reduction in false positives.

  • 25% drop in overall alert volume.

  • 89% increase in notification relevance.
