New data from Telstra reveals scammers are most active on weekends and early mornings.
Cyber experts reporting that Australians are often targeted on Fridays and Saturdays, with Telstra blocking 11% more scams on these days compared to others.
Scammers also prefer striking between 1am and 4am, aiming to catch people off-guard. Text messages are their favoured method, with Telstra’s Cleaner Pipes team blocking an average of 11 million scam texts monthly, a 69% increase from last year.
Alarmingly, some scammers are using generative AI to mimic Australian slang, so be vigilant and be cautious of suspicious messages, especially during these peak times.
